Justin’s Market Musings | Tariffs-Talk of the Town | April 01, 2025

I can’t remember a topic more talked about, misunderstood and misrepresented than the recent chatter on tariffs. As tariffs and their use (in the United States) have become such a controversial political football, I’ve found that the misinformation being put out by proponents and opponents is creating a ton of confusion. So, when our partners at First Trust put out this great informational piece on tariffs last week, I knew we had to get this out to our valuable clients. Click here

To be clear, I’m not taking a side on this issue (nor is First Trust). I would suggest there are some legitimate advantages/disadvantages on both sides of the debate (b/c if they are only bad, why do so many countries apply them?). But, most importantly, I think it is just important to look at the facts and the data to at least help understand more about this controversial topic…because you are going to be hearing a lot more about it in the coming days and weeks.

Please take a few minutes to go through these slides, the explanations and the data provided. The more you know, the better you’ll be able to understand the implications as this situation develops over time.
